Overview
Greenhouse films enclose and protect crops, creating a controlled growing environment. They are typically LDPE or LLDPE, with high light transmittance and low haze, strength, durability and resistance to weathering and tear. Clear films give maximum transmission for crops needing full sun; diffused films scatter light and reduce plant-burn risk.
Films also reduce water use by limiting evaporation and holding humidity. Over time UV radiation embrittles and discolours the film, reducing transmission, and wind or hail can tear it, so periodic replacement is needed.
